1. About these terms

This website at mentorise.co.uk and the Mentorise service, together the “Service”, are operated by an individual sole trader based in the United Kingdom, trading as Mentorise (“Mentorise”, “we”, “us”). You can contact us at hello@mentorise.co.uk, and we will provide a postal address for formal notices on request.

By accessing the website, submitting the application form, or using the Service, you confirm that you accept these terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What Mentorise is

Mentorise is a mentoring service. Members answer questions about their own career and education once, and their profile can then answer career questions from other members. Members who are looking for direction can ask those profiles, build a career map, and connect directly where both people agree to it.

Mentorise is a platform that helps people find and learn from each other. We are not a party to any mentoring relationship, we are not an employment agency or recruiter, and we do not guarantee any introduction, connection, internship, job, or other outcome.

3. Beta status

The Service is in an early, invite-only beta and is provided free of charge during this period. It is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice, data may be reset, and we may end the beta at any time. If we introduce paid features in future, we will give you notice and you will be able to choose whether to continue.

4. Eligibility

To use the Service you must be at least 18 years old, be able to form a legally binding contract, provide accurate information about yourself and your background, and not have been removed from the Service before.

Access is currently by referral and invitation. Submitting the application form does not guarantee a place, and we may accept or decline applications at our discretion.

5. Applying and accounts

When you apply, and later if you are given an account, you agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login details secure. Please tell us promptly at hello@mentorise.co.uk if you think your account has been compromised.

6. Your content and profile

“Your Content” means anything you submit to the Service, including your application answers, your CV, your profile text, the answers your profile gives, your messages, and your feedback.

• You keep ownership of Your Content.
• You grant Mentorise a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example to format it or to generate profile answers from it), and display Your Content to other members for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted, except for copies held in routine backups for a limited period or copies we are required to keep by law.
• You confirm that you have the right to submit Your Content and that it does not break the law or infringe anyone else’s rights.
• Please do not submit confidential information belonging to an employer or a third party, or personal data about other identifiable people beyond a first name and general context.
• We may review Your Content, edit it for clarity, or remove it, and we may decline to publish a profile.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service for anything unlawful, misleading, or harmful; not to harass, abuse, discriminate against, or spam other members; not to misrepresent your identity, experience, or affiliation; not to contact members for recruitment, sales, or promotion without their clear agreement; not to scrape, copy, or harvest profiles or member data, or use the Service to build a competing dataset or product; not to break, probe, or overload the Service or bypass any access controls; and not to upload malware or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system or account.

You are responsible for how you use any information you get through the Service.

8. Not professional advice

Content on Mentorise, including profile answers and any career map or curriculum the Service generates, reflects the personal experience and opinions of members and is provided for general information only. It is not professional, legal, financial, immigration, or careers advice, and it may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Any decision you make based on it is your own responsibility, and where a matter is important you should take advice from a qualified professional.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, text, graphics, the Mentorise name and logo, and the software behind it, is owned by or licensed to Mentorise and is protected by intellectual property law. You may use the Service only as these terms allow, and nothing here transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict all or part of it for operational, legal, or security reasons. We may also change these terms, and if we do we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, make reasonable efforts to tell members. Continuing to use the Service after a change means that you accept the updated terms.

11. Disclaimers and liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales.

Subject to that, and given that the Service is provided free of charge during the beta, the Service and all content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We are not liable for the accuracy of member content, for the conduct of any member, or for the outcome of any connection made through the Service. We are not liable for any loss of profit, opportunity, data, or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to £100.

You are responsible for backing up anything that is important to you. This section does not affect any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to close your account and delete your data by emailing hello@mentorise.co.uk. We may suspend or end your access, with or without notice, if you break these terms, if we reasonably believe your use puts other members or the Service at risk, or if we stop offering the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 6, 8, 9, 11, and 13, will continue to apply.

13. General

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply, and if we do not enforce a right straight away that is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the Mentorise business is taken over by another operator, and we will tell you if that happens.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
